Cape Town International Airport is South Africa's second largest airport and a prime tourism gateway. The Western Cape is one of this country's major tourist destinations, and Cape Town International Airport prides itself on the role it plays in the region. The new R120 million International Departures Terminal, officially opened in February 2003, boasts a total area of 21 000m2 - of which 2360m2 is retail space, accommodating 13 shops. The new terminal is capable of accommodating up to 1300 passengers in peak hours,
or a million passengers a year, three times the capacity of the previous departures terminal.

South Africa, on the continent's southern tip, is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean on the west and by the Indian Ocean on the south and east. Its neighbors are Namibia in the northwest, Zimbabwe and Botswana in the north, and Mozambique and Swaziland in the northeast.
